The Cobra Strikes Again!

The sheriff of Nottingham defended his IBF Super-Middleweight World Championship in what most predicted in a straight forward manor last night in the Capital FM Arena in his home town. While many predicted Froch to win the aggression and the predator instincts of 'The Cobra' simply took apart the American Yusaf Mack. Yusaf Mack looked confident as he made his way to the ring even dancing which the crowd promptly returned with chants to 'Who are ya?' to the American.

Yusaf 'Mack Attack' Mack (31-5-2 [17ko]) had a lot to say during the pre-fight confrence even attempting to provoke the Champion by calling Froch 'A Fake Calzaghe'. The crowd though arupted when the annoucement came that the hometown hero would be about to make his way to the ring. Froch (30-2 [22ko]) looked as focused as he did back in May when he took apart the Lucian Bute bandwagon in that very ring.

'The Cobra' started off feeling out his opponent by finding his range and after a minute and half of the bout Froch landed with a swinging left hand which forced the stylish American to hold on. This was followed by another left hand which had Mack down. The knockdown was flash and Mack rose with very strong legs but Froch continued his dominence and proved he was the boss continuing to throw attacks causing the American trouble.

The second round seen Mack have some success by contering the Cobra's advances but was brought strictly back to earth in the last 30 seconds of the round when Froch landed some powerful shots causing Mack to spit out his gum shield. In the third round, Mack looked flustered like he was trying to ride the storm but the second round was just the calm before it as Froch was throwing out jabs and continuing to find his range. In the last minute of the round a four punch combo was unleashed on Mack with one huge left hand to the body leaving the American writhing in pain as the referee counted the 10 count.

Carl Froch may have been expected to win this fight but he done this in fantastic style showing he is a force to be wreckoned with. Froch deserved an easier fight but he showed he still has the same determination to go into the ring in the same manner and walk through anyone in his way.

I personally don't believe Lucian Bute should invoke the re-match clause as Froch looks like the fight in May has continued to make him more hungry and more determined to continue with his own personal achievement to be completed while the Canadian Based Romanian looked broken in his last fight against Grachev a few weeks ago. Froch should aim for rematches against the only two men to defeat the Cobra in Mikkel Kessler and Andre Ward.

The Cobra will Strike Again!
