Haye: I will not fight Klitchko in Ukraine

David Haye annouced today he will not consider fighting Vitali Klitchko in Ukraine. The British two weight World Champion is adamant he will not fight in Ukraine due to health and safety reasons. Haye sensationally annouced that 'Crazy Rascists have already sent him death threats.' and He will be more than willing to face Vitali in Germany.

The 31-year-old is now focused on securing a fight with the older Klitschko – on the proviso that the bout takes place in Germany.

"I've never been to Ukraine but I have heard it's very dangerous for a black man," Haye said. "There are crazy racists who have already sent me death threats. So Germany would be the best and safest place for me to beat Vitali and get out of the stadium alive."

The Klitschkos usually fight in Germany where they earn their biggest television purses but Haye is unimpressed with their choice of opponent.

"He [Vitali] has promised the world so many times that he could knock me out," said Haye. "That is rubbish. I'm too fast, too sexy and too talented to be blown away by a large, slow robot from the Ukraine.

"I think the fight Haye against Vitali Klitschko is the only heavyweight fight the world wants to see. I am not interested in fighting against 50 wimps like the Klitschkos do."

Brook Turns Down Shot at Bradley

Kell Brook has revealed that he turned down a shot at WBO Welterweight Champion Timothy Bradley and chose to take the mandatory route.

Brook, Decided to go the mandatory route as he felt this was the best option for him to become a World Champion. Brook will fight on October 20th in a Final Eliminator for the IBF Welterweight Championship against Hector Saldivia at the Motorpoint Arena in Sheffield.

“The Bradley fight was put in front of me but I believe the mandatory position in the IBF is the right move,” said Brook, who is back in Sheffield after a two week training camp in Spain. “Eddie has worked hard to get me into this position and providing I beat Saldivia, I’ll be fighting for a world title at the start of 2013 and it will be on my terms.

“I would love that to be in Sheffield too and I know Eddie would do his best to get it here as it would be an amazing event. I will also be watching Ricky Hatton’s comeback with great interest as a fight against him next year would be an absolute blockbuster for British boxing.
“When I fought his brother Matthew you could see that the Hatton name still means a lot in boxing and we would fill a big stadium fighting for a world title.”

Hearn added: “Top Rank contacted me in August and made us an offer for the Bradley fight. It was a nice ego boost for Kell to be offered a fight of such magnitude but we begun this journey with a goal of becoming a mandatory challenger and now we are just one win away.”

Brook had a chance to become a World Champion against Timothy Bradley who I think he could of won but he chose this route and will earn a shot at Rendall Bailey or Devon Alexander. Brook clearly has his eyes set on the returning Ricky Hatton and I'm sure that would be a fight Amir Khan will be looking at.

Fighter of the Week - Ricky Burns

The two weight World Champion Ricky Burns is our fighter of the week after his amazing performence on Saturday with a TKO victory over Kevin Mitchell. The Coatbridge born lightweight was excellent and defied critics who claimed he has not fought anyone to be considered a world level fighter.

Ricky Burns (35-2  10ko) regained his WBO Lightweight Championship to prove he is one of the best fighters at lightweight. This is a far cry of what the young Scottish fighter was dubbed when he first become a professional boxer. Burns turned professional in 2001 winning his debut fight against Woody Greenaway by a points decision. He then went 13 fights unbeaten before earning his first shot at gaining a belt against Scottish hero Alex Arthur. Unfortunately with the European, British and Commonwealth featherweight championships on the line, Burns lost a fairly one sided fight.

Burns then returned with two victories to earn a shot at Carl Johanneson's British Super-Featherweight Championship on the line in February 2007. Burns once again suffered a comfortable decision lost. Burns then continued his winning ways before he earned himself a shot at the vacant Commonwealth Super-Featherweight Championship winning by unamious decision. The Scot then defended his Championship against Yakubu Amidu (TKO7), beating a good name at this level Michael Gomez (TKO7) and finally defeating Kevin O'Hara by unaminous decision.

Then a win in May 2006 against Youssef Al Hamidi earned Burns a shot at the WBO Super Featheweight World Championship. Burns who was a massive underdog was put on the canvas in the first round with many thinking Roman Martinez would knock out Burns like he did Nicky Cook to win the Championship. But Rickster gritted his teeth and earned a well deserved victory to the surprise of the British public. Burns defend his WBO Super-Featherweight Championship 3 times before moving up to Lightweight and fighting for the Interim WBO Light Championship winning by giving Michael Katsidis a boxing lesson.

Juan Manual Marquez gave up his lightweight crown giving Burns the full World Championship holder. Burns then beat Paulus Moses and then a huge match was made between Burns and Dagenham's Kevin Mitchell. Burns showed class and power which surprised many people involved with boxing forcing a stoppage on Mitchell. Burns deserves the creadit he will earn from this and much to everyone surprise could become a boxing great if he can continue his rise to success.

What next for Ricky Burns? I believe he should fight Gavin Rees or Scott Harrison in December 2012, As all the other belts are being contested for at the moment. Then a unifaction belt in March/April 2013 would be fantastic. I believe Ricky Burns has the world at his fingertips.

Hatton's Opponent Annouced for Comeback

Ricky 'The Hitman' Hatton has today annouced the opponent he will face in the Manchester Arena on 24th November. Hatton who's last fight was May 2009 when he suffered his second loss in his career to Pound for Pound king Manny Pacquaio.

The annoucement was made that the Former IBO and IBF Light-Welterweight Champion will face former WBO Lightweight interim Champion Michael Katsidis. Even though Katsidis has lost his last two bouts to Ricky Burns and Albert Mensah he has been in the ring with some great fighters including Juan Manual Marquez and Robert Gurerro last year,

This could be a make or break for both fighters as they could be make or break for both fighters as it's last chance saloon for Katsidis and also a brave fight for Hatton to attempt to break back into contention.

The Jackal's Prey

Carl 'The Jackal' Frampton showed the World tonight why he will one day be a contender for a World Championship. Frampton (15-0 [10ko]) has shown in his short professional career he was a force to be reckoned with with a huge stoppage of former 2x World Champion Steve Molitior tonight. The Odyssey Arena in Belfast, Northern Ireland was amazed by the quality shown by the prospect of how he handled the Canadian whilst retaining his Commonwealth and IBF Inter-continental Super-Bantamweight Championships.

Molitor (34-3 [12ko]) looked like an amateur not a former World Champion against The Belfast man when he was under constant pressure. The writing was on the wall from the start when Frampton looked to quick and strong for the Canadian Kid. The referee finally stopped the bout in the 6th round when Molitor had already been down at the end of the 5th round and twice in the 6th.

The future is bright for Frampton who's world is his oyster. There is alot of fights and the improvment The Jackal has made from each of his fights is there for everyone to see.

=========================

Paul McCloskey returned after his loss unexpected TKO lost to Damarcus Corley in his last fight against WBA's ranked 8th Mike Perez. Dudey looked in control but continued to show he takes alot of un needed shots. Lucky for Dudey though as Perez is not a knockout artist. McCloskey (24-2 [12ko] picked up the vacant WBA Intercontinental Light Welterweight Championship with a points decision over the American.

I honestly can not see McCloskey taking the step up as he leaves his chin wide open and gets caught to many times. I hope I am wrong as McCloskey is a very likeable character and deserves a break but unfortunately I can not see that happening.

==========================

The other fights of the night Martin Lindsay (20-1 [7ko]) won but did not get his shot at Commonwealth and British Super Featherweight Champion Lee Selby due to Selby being rushed to hospital with an illness. He will be happy that he fought a fighter a pound above his weight winning by unamious decision against Renald Garrido.

Kal Yafai continued his impressive start to his career with a points decision win, while there points wins for Dee Walsh, Martin J. Ward and Paddy Gallagher. Another debutant Ben Mulligan struggled in his first professional fight losing to Mariusz Bak.

Sparks Fly in Glasgow

Glasgow was proud of their new Scottish hero tonight when two weight World Champion Ricky Burns defended his WBO Lightweight World Championship infront a patriotic crowd in Scottish Exhibition Centre in Glasgow tonight. Burns (35-2- [10ko]) shocked the World in a huge anticipated fight which was dubbed to be 50/50 when he sensationally stopped Kevin Mitchell. Burns looked comfortably and confounding many critics including myself for his lack of power and look as strong as I ever imagined.

Mitchell (33-2 [24ko]) looked sharp in the first round winning the round over what i thought was a nervous Burns. In the second round Burns started to take control landing some flush shots on The Hammer and that continued in the third round. Burns caught Mitchell with a fantastic left hook which put the Challenger down. At first it looked a flash knockdown but when Mitchell rose from the canvas he was once again put down with a flurry of punches coming from the Scot's man. Mitchell was then bombard again on the ropes till referee Terry O'Connor done what Burn's was looking capable of doing by stopping the fight.

The future is bright for Burns, and I believe he should look for a unifaction fight maybe going for the IBF or WBA championships. While Mitchell has no time to lick his wounds and his career depends on how fast he gets back on the horse.

===========================

The Scottish fans must of expected more off the returning ex two time World Champion Scott Harrison. Even though Harrison managed to beat Joe Elfidh he must of expected more but on the credit of Harrison he had 3 fighters in the last month and the time of the bout changed with each fight. Still the school teacher Elfidh only had 12 hours to know about the fight and was very awkward but should of been pushed by the Scot.

This is Harrison's second fight since his return from his troubled past and said in an interview how he wanted to fight the winner of Burns v Mitchell. This would be in my opinion someone who needs the money looking for a quick pay day and a stupid and fatal mistake.

The other fights of the night seen Josh Simpson stop Dai Davies in the 2nd Round with a fantastic left hook to retain his BBBofC Celtic Super-Featherweight Championship. There were wins for other Scottish hopefuls Josh Thain and Stephen Simmons both winning by unaminous decision. Bradley Saunders continued his rise in boxing with a TKO over Ivan Godor who did not look interested at all.
